We did enjoy another day on the patio!! When we leave the ICU ward, the nurses have gotten use to us and will say that they will not tell security. :) It did feel good to be in the warmth of the sun again! Can you tell that Eric is excited about me taking his picture??
The Telethon will be here at the hospital, so it should be a fun day tomorrow. Mainly because we will get to go HOME!!
I came across a few articles about Oscar Pistorius on-line. You may have read something about him. He is a world champion sprinter, who has set world records. If you google his name, you may be surprised to learn that despite the fact that he has had both legs amputated, he was initially banned from competing in the Beijing Olympics. The reason he was banned is because it was felt he had an “unfair advantage” over the rest of the runners because of his prosthetic legs. The “unfair advantage” was attributed to “science” which supposedly found that he expended less energy by running on his legs, than did the other competitors. This ban was later reversed, and Oscar barely missed the qualifying time necessary to compete in the Beijing Olympics. He did, however, compete in the Paralympics, where he won three gold medals and set world records. His story is inspiring! You can also find his story on youtube. I can’t wait to continue to watch what Eric accomplishes throughout his life (even if it may not be the Olympics)! Eric you are also inspiring!
